Where there’s a Golden Bachelor, there’s a Golden Bachelorette, right? Keep reading to find out what ABC says about a possible spinoff of the senior dating show.
ABC Revives Tired Franchise With The Golden Bachelor
In 2020, ABC excited Bachelor Nation fans by issuing a casting call for an upcoming spinoff of a senior version of its popular Bachelor franchise.
The ad called for people in their “golden years” to apply for a second chance at love. The pandemic put the spinoff in question, but three years later, the network gave fans The Golden Bachelor.
Premiering Sept. 28, fans were introduced to 72-year-old widower Gerry Turner. Viewers also met the 22 women aged 60+ who were hoping to win his Golden Rose.

Six of the women, including the mother of Season 25 Bachelor Matt James, were sent home on night one. However, Turner seemed to make a strong connection with his first impression rose winner.
With only one episode under its belt, how did fans react to watching seniors, rather than 20-somethings, turn on the romance?
Bachelor Nation Fans Rave Over ‘Wholesome’ Show
The Golden Bachelor could have been a hit or a miss for the network. While their beach spinoff, Bachelor In Paradise, was a success for the franchise, few viewers were interested in hearing a musical version, as Listen To Your Heart was canceled after one season. One former Listen To Your Heart contestant tried out for Season 24 of NBC’s vocal competition The Voice.
But ABC hit its Golden Hour, with ratings from the Golden Bachelor premiere through the roof. Over 4 million viewers tuned in to watch Gerry Turner meet the women who wanted to be his wife.

Producers Tease The Golden Bachelor Spinoff
The Bachelor premiered in 2002. A year later, Trista Rehn made history as the first Bachelorette lead. In fact, she’s often held up as the standard, as she’s still with her final contestant. Now Trista Sutter, she’s been married to Ryan Sutter for almost 20 years now. They wed in Dec. 2003.
After a string of broken engagements from Season 14 through Season 19, Charity Lawson is still engaged to Dotun Olubeko following Season 20 of The Bachelorette.
ABC has yet to officially confirm a Golden Bachelorette spinoff, but should fans expect one?
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, producers would only say it’s a “possibility.” However, they seem very excited about the idea already.
The show’s longtime stylist, Cary Fetman, told the outlet, “I am so excited at the idea of styling a Golden Bachelorette!”
“There is truly an inner beauty that comes out with maturity of reaching a certain age that gives a confidence many 20-year-olds do not have,” Fetman added.
