After halting her talk show return amid the ongoing strikes following intense backlash from the public, Drew Barrymore is finally getting ready for her comeback.
The Drew Barrymore Show Season 4 will return on Monday, Oct. 16.
It was initially set to return on September 18, but the decision was met with plenty of public backlash as it went against the WGA strike.
Barrymore defended her decision to bring back the daytime talk show, noting that they would not be using “WGA writers” and thus complying with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA rules and not crossing the picket line, as over 11,000 TV writers are currently striking for better wages, conditions, and more.
Still, the public remained disappointed and encouraged her to rethink her decision, thus prompting her to pause production on her show.
“I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over,” she wrote on Instagram at the time when announcing her decision. “I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”
Since the writers’ strike has officially ended, The Drew Barrymore Show was given the green light to resume thus announcing the exciting news today, Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, via a post on X (previously known as Twitter).
