This week on Better Homes & Gardens Joh and Pete visit the Shiplap House in Watsons Bay and Graham is in Victoria’s Montalto vineyard.
Fast Ed – Cook Islands Week Two
After exploring some pristine beaches, snorkelling, and learning to cook some local dishes, Ed’s tropical adventure in the Cook Islands continues and he’s making the most of it. He’s going to experience the best the Cook Islands has to offer; snorkelling with turtles through colourful coral reefs, climbing the lush rainforest covered mountains to taste the freshest tropical fruits and of course, using fresh produce to make a traditional local favourite. If the Cook Islands aren’t your favourite holiday destination, they soon will be.
Johanna + Pete – Amazing Homes: Shiplap House
It’s an unusual and certainly luxurious take on a humble fisherman’s cottage. Joh and Pete visit the Shiplap House – an award-winning home that takes advantage of one of the best views in Australia! But with site constraints on a battle-axe block, a truly original and unique home was born. Over three levels, the inverted floor plan is luxurious from top to bottom. Battling salt, wind and close neighbouring blocks, this house is big on privacy and even bigger on harnessing the views of Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean.
Adam Greg Olijnyk: Cardboard Artist
Using just cardboard, PVA glue, a scalpel and a ruler, artist Greg Olijnyk creates the most beautifully detailed sculptures you’re likely to see. These sculptures are even more unbelievable when you consider that he doesn’t drawer any designs in advance, they just come straight out of his head. Greg shows Adam some of his creations as they chat about how he got into such an artform. Adam even gets a chance to put together Greg’s latest creation, to see exactly how it’s done. You’ll never look at a cardboard box the same way again.
Graham – The Organic Kitchen Garden
In one of Victoria’s best wine-growing regions lies the sprawling estate of Montalto. With a vineyard, massive olive grove, sculpture trail and kitchen garden, this truly is a mecca for foodies, wine lovers and gardeners alike. After a walk around, Graham meets Head Gardener Juliet, to discuss growing all this spectacular produce using the organic principles of permaculture. And by saving seeds, they’re able to grow many heirloom varieties that aren’t available at supermarkets. With all that gardening goodness, it’s definitely a place to see for yourself!
Charlie – Paint on Paving
You’ve got a concrete driveway that’s a little drab and the idea of paving it or removing it for something else is screaming big dollars. Where do you go? What if Charlie told you that with a 3-step process, you could transform your space into something modern, stylish and refreshing for a fraction of the price? But to complement the driveway, Charlie has a few more great ideas to turn this drab driveway into a grand entrance.
Juliet – Beautiful Design and Clever Ideas
Freshening up a room in your home starts with smart design choices, but it’s also about making the most of the room you have available, especially if it’s not an easy or conventional space. With a lack of warmth, head room and storage space, Juliet’s found a room that’s desperate for her expert touch. Using some creative solutions and design tricks to make up for a lack of space, Juliet gives the room a contemporary, calm and tranquil style.
Dr Harry – TV Herder
Moving from a large house on a big block of land in the country to an inner-city flat can be difficult for humans, let alone dogs who love to run around. In one particular flat, Dr Harry comes across Emby the cattle dog, who loves chasing balls so much she’ll even try when they’re on the TV. Can he help prevent Emby from creating chaos every time the TV turns on?
