Real Housewives Who Give Off Disney Princess Vibes

Bravo has created a magical environment where women of the one percent can all gather to laugh, cry, and fight. While the setting is a far cry from Disney’s Magic Kingdom, each housewife has acted like a princess at one time or another. Between the damsel in distress, fighter, and solo rebel, multiple comparisons can be made between the Real Housewives franchise and Disney.

Between the 1950s and 1990s, the Disney princesses’ prime objective was to be beautiful. However, this staple is no longer the primary ingredient for a beloved princess. Nowadays, the Disney princess has moved on from being the demur woman and has developed a self-sufficient attitude, much like many of the Bravo personalities.

Luann de Lesseps love of singing easily compares to that of Snow White. Even though the Countess isn’t whistling Dixie and having the birds and deer help her with her everyday chores, there is a sort of whimsy about her. Luann’s magical world of French courts also ties her to Walt Disney’s first princess.

While we doubt Snow would have danced in clubs aptly called “The Poison Apple,” Luann does enjoy touring around with her cabaret show. It also doesn’t hurt that both women rock a short, dark bob too.

Bethenny Frankel Channels Mulan El Pics/Getty Images

Bethenny Frankel has never let anyone tell her what she could or could not do. And thanks to the release of her podcast interview with Vanderpump RulesRachel Leviss, she is once again showing that she is ready for a fight. Even though Mulan was a bit more soft-spoken (at least initially), she proved to her family and nation she was a worthy adversary.

Like Mulan, Bethenny has decided to go up against an army after she upset the Bravosphere by speaking out against the hand that fed her. Bethenny may not be the biggest of the Real Housewives, but she knows how to use her street smarts and quick wit to get the outcome she wants.

Like Mulan, Bethenny hopes to return to NYC victorious in her push for a reality TV union and won’t stop until she “makes a man” out of the network.

Kandi Burruss Exudes Jasmine Paras Griffin/Getty Images

When Kandi Burruss first met Todd Tucker, it was typical Disney magic. However, while the singer saw stars in her eyes, Mama Joyce felt her son-in-law could be a user. Jasmine also had an uphill battle regarding her one true love, Aladdin. Even though the couples knew they were meant to be together, both had to fight for their love to survive by going through multiple trials and tribulations.

Both Mama Joyce and the Sultan wanted their daughters to marry a prince and often wore blinders to the positive sides of the potential matches. Recently, Mama Joyce noted at BravoCon, “If I would replace Todd, I probably would’ve picked anyone that had a decent job.”

While neither Jasmine nor Kandi are a prize to be won, both figures follow their hearts, and in a fun twist, both even had tigers at their weddings!

Erika Jayne Is So Megara Ethan Miller/Getty Images

While she may be a damsel and she may have been in distress these last few years, Erika Jayne has her issues handled. Just like the Pretty Mess singer, (Nut) Meg is a snarky femme fatale who once served as a minion to Hades.

Erika’s relationship with Tom Girardi could easily be comparable, especially after the disgraced lawyer was arrested for his wrongdoings. Erika and Meg have cynical dispositions, which come across through their dark humor and sarcasm.

Heather Gay Seems Like Cinderella Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images

Cinderella, just like Heather Gay, is super-sweet and the quintessential princess. Cinderellie and Heather are kind and gentle to everyone they meet, with both blondes putting off a calm yet humble energy.

Both personalities lived under a strict regime, with the princess having to be back home before midnight and Heather having to follow her strict Mormon faith. Heather and Cinderella live by the princess’s motto, “have courage and be kind.”

Karen Huger Reminds Us Of Merida Charles Sykes/Bravo/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images

The Grand Dame of the Potomac, Karen Huger, is everything Princess Merida portrays in her Disney movie, Brave. Nobody’s going to tell either woman what to do! If Karen or Merida have an idea, they take action (look at the three-wick candle.)

Even though both Karen and Merida could benefit from taking a bit more time to think over a plan, instead of running ahead, they make their ideas work for them. It is obvious that Karen and the Scottish heroine are stifled by rules and regulations and often buck convention.

For example, Merida doesn’t allow any suitor to show off their skills at archery or win her as a wife. Karen often bosses Ray Huger around and dominates almost every conversation, with her husband looking on as a proud partner who doesn’t need to snag the limelight from his wife.
