European IPTV Service IPTVPremium Shut Down By BREIN

A popular IPTV Platform in Europe has been taken down with the help of anti-piracy coalition BREIN.

The service, called IPTVPremium, was available for 70 euros a year and provided access to live television channels as well as sporting events and even video-on-demand content.

However, after being threatened by BREIN with fines and penalties, the operator of the service ultimately decided to close down the website and shut off all access entirely.

If you try to visit the official website, you are met with the following screen.

The decision to cease operations was made by the site owner after BREIN with the help of Irdeto was able to discover the man’s identity and notify him of the illicit activities.

Ultimately, he agreed to pay a settlement fee for an undisclosed amount and must pay an additional 7,500 euros per day for any future infringement operations.

In a WhatsApp message to his current subscribers, the operator noted the illegality of the operation and the immediate discontinuation of active and future services.

The message above translates to the following:

You have an IPTV package subscription with us that provides access to evidently illegally offered television channels, movies and series.

It is established in case law that the sales of these types of IPTV packages is not allowed, and that you, the customer, violate copyright law each time you use it.

For this reason we have been summoned by BREIN to stop the sales of these illegal IPTV Packages immediately and to inform you about it.

While it appears no penalties or fines for end users will be executed, it is a warning to these subscribers that using illegal IPTV platforms is a violation of copyright law.

Bastiaan van Ramshorts, director of the BREIN Foundation made the following remark regarding their latest closure.

Purchasing a set-top box with an illegal IPTV subscription is comparable to receiving stolen goods and every time the user turns on the box and starts watching a film or TV series, they are committing copyright infringement and acting unlawfully

This isn’t the first time we have seen BREIN in the news for targeting an IPTV Service as they have assisted in shutdowns and even settled in court with various other Providers.
