Producers of the popular franchise went outside Bachelor Nation when casting the lead for the very first Golden Bachelor. The spin-off features a senior lead and contestants. All of the 22 female contestants are over the age of 60.

The lead, Indiana native Gerry Turner, is a 71-year-old widower with two children and two grandchildren. He may not be familiar to the Bachelor audience, but one of the women vying for his golden rose is.
Matt James led Season 25 of The Bachelor. His season ended up marred in a controversy that saw Chris Harrison exit the franchise. During the season, viewers go to meet Matt’s mom, Patty James.
The remarkable Celine-Dion-lookalike was cast as part of The Golden Bachelor.
One Contestant Stuns Viewers With Confession
Matt James’ mom wasn’t the only standout for the audience. Another contestant, Leslie, shocked viewers with her confessional. The 64-year-old fitness instructor shared her connection to a very famous musician.
Not only did she once date Prince, but she claimed he wrote his song “Sexy Dancer” about her.

Distractify did a deep dive into her claim. The outlet noted that both Prince and the reality star are from Minnesota, which makes her story very likely. The song was recorded in 1979, which would mean the two dated in the 1970s.

She was among the six women Gerry Turner sent home during night one. Anna and Maria, two of the three New Jersey natives in the mansion, were both sent home. That leaves Theresa to represent the Garden State.
The other three eliminations on night one were Sylvia, Renee, and Pamela.
