A young man in his 30s is facing the possibility of an amputation following a horrific car crash. This young man built a following for himself on the MTV network. As a friend of Cory Wharton, he made an appearance on both Teen Mom and Ex On The Beach. He was also a member of MTV’s Are You The One? Season 3 cast. And, he has been a member of MTV’s The Challenge cast for five seasons.

Earlier this year, Teen Mom star Cory Wharton’s friend, Nelson Thomas, was rescued from a near-fatal fiery car crash. Between Teen Mom, The Challenge, and Are You The One? Nelson is pretty well-known among those who frequently watch MTV. So, it is no surprise they were itching for an update on how he has been doing since the terrible accident.
In a very emotional and tearful video, Nelson took to Instagram three days ago. He gave Teen Mom and The Challenge fans an update on what was going on. Originally, his doctors told him it would take about a year for everything to heal. Now, he’s finding out that his ankle is broken again. And, it shows no signs of healing. Nelson Thomas exclaimed that he feels like everything up until now has been a waste of time.

His doctors explained what happened next. He had two options he could choose between. He could salvage his ankle with a treatment called “ankle fusion.” Or, he could have his ankle amputated.
The MTV personality breaks down and explains that he is “mentally drained.” He is hoping to get a second opinion from someone else to make sure there are no other options being overlooked. Presently, however, he feels defeated and is just looking for some good news to move forward with.
He penned in the caption of his post: “I received the most disheartening news about my ankle. I’ve chosen to seek a second opinion from a specialist. If you have any recommendations for doctors who specialize in ankle fusion or related treatments, please leave a comment below.”

Emphatically, many other members of the MTV family popped into the comments to send prayers and good vibes in Nelson’s direction. Furthermore, a few individuals even responded to his request for a second opinion with some tips on who he could reach out to.
One individual even shared their experience with a family member having an ankle fusion and being able to return to a normal and happy life. The individual added their family member “barely has a limp.”
