As we’ve reported, Carlin has been dealing with mysterious health issues for the past year and a half. Shortly after she welcomed her second child Zade to the world in March 2022, she began having seizure-like episodes. She’s undergone numerous tests and has spent days in the hospital with no real answers. She’s on medications to manage her seizures, but she still doesn’t have a diagnosis.
Throughout these ups and downs, the Bates family has kept fans updated on their lives. Bringing Up Bates fans have poured in with supportive messages and offered to pray for Carlin too.

On her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Carlin Bates Stewart shared a few photos with fans as she headed to the hospital. She revealed that it was finally time for her five-day EEG, which will hopefully lead to some answers regarding her mysterious health problems. The mom of two previously talked about the five-day EEG, but there were many delays with scheduling. Fortunately, she’s finally able to have it done in hopes of making progress.
She shared a photo as she packed her bag for the five-day stay at the hospital. Then, she posted a couple of additional photos as she got settled in. It looks like her husband, Evan Stewart, may be staying with her. Her mom, Kelly Jo Bates, also visited her, but it’s unclear how long she was able to stay.
In one snap, she gave fans a rundown on how she’s been doing. Fortunately, she has had “little to no issues” for the past few months.
She continued, “This is just a test that’s been in the works to see if my seizure-like activity is epilepsy or has another cause. Although I have been on seizure meds for over a year, there can’t be a definitive diagnosis without inducing one while being monitored.”
