Pro dancer Emma Slater thinks the judges messed up when it came to scores last night.
Pros and judges occasionally butt heads on Dancing With The Stars. All week long, pros and their celebrity partners work hard in the rehearsal room and feel aggravated when the scores don’t reflect the work.
Some pros are more vocal than others. Emma Slater is typically known for her sweet nature, but even she didn’t hold back last night. See what the British dancer had to say after Motown Night came to an end.
Emma Slater calls out the judges for unfair scoring
During Latin Night, Mauricio Umansky forgot part of the dance partway through the number. He and Emma attempted to wing the rest of the performance and kept dancing, but judges and viewers alike noticed the mistake.
Thankfully, they avoided elimination and went on to compete during Motown Night. Their Motown performance was much better, and Mauricio remembered the steps. It was a drastic improvement.

However, the judges didn’t really seem to notice how hard the pair worked.
On Instagram, Emma went on a tangent, revealing her true thoughts for the night. Overall, she felt annoyed and confused about the scores she and Mauricio received.

They received a 23/40 for their Foxtrot to “Working My Way Back To You” by The Spinners. Carrie Ann Inaba gave the pair a 7, but Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough gave them 5s. Guest judge Michael Strahan gave them a 6. And in the comments, fans readily agreed with Emma’s point of view.
“Those scores did not match the comments….what the heck is with the judges tonight???” one Instagram user wrote.

Other social media platforms featured similar comments.
“Judging vs scores was weird tonight… and it wasn’t only Mauricio…” one fan said on Reddit. “I was shocked by the comments vs scores for Barry, I was confused by Derek’s 5 for Harry, the scores for Alyson, idk scores were just weird in general tonight and I’m not all about flying scores but they just didn’t seem to match what judges were saying and in multiple cases you had the judging panel scoring from 5-7 so it was almost as if they were watching different things lol”
Will things change for week four?
Right now, the pro dancers and celebrity contestants are coming up with plans for week four. Mauricio Umansky and Emma Slater will be back for another performance. It’s no secret that they both really want to stay in the competition.
But can they earn higher scores from the judges? Time will tell.
Do you agree with Emma Slater? Are the judges giving unfair scores to certain celebs this season? Don’t forget to share your own opinions in the comments.
