Nine is a partner of SXSW Sydney taking place next week and has announced two events to be held on Monday October 16 at ICC, Darling Harbour.
Nine’s Chief Marketing Officer, Liana Dubois said: “Nine is incredibly excited to be part of the inaugural SXSW Sydney. This iconic event celebrates the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture and I can’t think of a bigger or better opportunity for Nine to showcase how our talent, brands and thought leaders shape Australian culture.”
The Joy And Power Of Play – One Brick At A Time, 10am, ICC
A growing view in Australia is that play time is a waste of time or something a child must earn as a reward. Join leading Nine journalist Allison Langdon as she challenges that thinking with LegoMaster’s Brickman, internationally awarded academic Professor Pasi Sahlberg and SuperConnect® creator Dr Kate Raynes-Goldie, all leaders in play, all Lego connected, and all creative and academic thinkers, who will explore the power of play at any age to positively impact our development. The panel will discuss how play builds our creativity, divergent thinking, adaptability and conflict resolution and show that children who can play in a safe and supportive environment become better communicators, team players and negotiators. They’ll also demonstrate that it doesn’t stop at childhood, we can play at any age to help make stronger, more meaningful human connections.
Sport As A Metaphor For Life, 3:30pm, ICC
Some say that sport is a metaphor for life. There’s always hope that the next game, the next swim, the next season will be better. We wrap our emotions around the highs and the lows, the losses and the wins and the ability to keep digging deep. Some of the country’s finest Olympians and champion sports men and women will share just what it takes not only to survive, but to thrive in a hugely competitive environment. This event presents the most outstanding line up of Australian sporting legends, including Cathy Freeman OAM, Australia’s brilliant gold medallist at Sydney 2000, epic surfer and Olympic qualifier for 2024, Jack Robinson, Ruan Sims, rugby league and union superstar and Ellie Cole, Australia’s most decorated Paralympian, all on stage at SXSW with Sports Journalist of the year Konrad Marshall.
