‘Shark Tank’: Where To Buy Return Home Burial Composting

It often isn’t fun to think about death, but this week on Shark Tank, some entrepreneurs try to pitch their product to make things easier for families after a loved on passes on. Return Home Burial Composting offers people an alternative for burial or cremation. This is Terramation, which is actually human composting.

Here is what you need to know about Return Home Burial Composting on Shark Tank and where to buy it.

What is Return Home Burial Composting on Shark Tank?

Tonight on Shark Tank, Seattle-native Micah Truman came onto Shark Tank to pitch his company, Return Home. Truman joined forces with funeral directors, HVAC specialists, engineers, death doulas, general contractors, and even soil scientists to come up with his new way of dealing with bodies after a person dies. He opened his business in 2021.

The idea here is to present something that is an alternative to burial or cremation. Unlike burials, this doesn’t take up more space in the Earth and unlike cremation, this actually helps the Earth. What the company offers is human composting services. This is through Terramation, which uses alfalfa, sawdust, straw, and time to transform human remains into fertile soil within 60 days. Oxygen stimulates microbes in the body to convert it into soil in 30 days. It then rests and cools for another 30 days.

Return Home then either returns the soil to the families or they scatter it in The Woodland, which is dedicated to revitalizing local flora. Every body yields 1.5 cubic yards of soil, which is 10 to 15 burlap bags worth. The families are also involved every step of the way, if they so desire. It also requires little energy and leaves a very small carbon footprint.
