For Tom Sandoval, he spent many seasons on Vanderpump Rules as a bartender at SUR. Then, he went on to open two restaurant lounges where he created several signature cocktails. Drinking is something that has just been a part of him and his lifestyle. He and his bestie and business partner, Tom Schwartz even developed their own whiskey line. However, after ‘Scandoval’ broke, Sandoval started to realize that he needed to make some changes in his life. One of them was his alcohol intake and he claims that it was all due to his ex, Rachel Leviss.

As fans know, Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss had an affair behind his girlfriend, Ariana Madix’s back. They had been together nearly a decade and it blew up to epic proportions. Eventually, Rachel and Sandoval parted ways and she entered a mental health facility while he went on tour. According to Page Six, that was when he realized it was time to slow down with the substances. He discussed it on the debut episode of his podcast, Everyone Loves Tom. Per Sandoval: “I haven’t drank since — I believe it was April 4th or 5th.”

He confessed to chain smoking and drinking immediately after he was done working out. However, he hid his struggles from people, and what made it worse was what was happening to his band. They were subject to the wrath from fans based on his poor choices. Yet, he still wnatd to go on tour as he has lost so much as it was. Finally, he quit drinking and smoking on the same day Rachel went into treatment. “Honestly, I think that, you know, quitting the drinking, you know, and going on tour like it might have actually saved my life,” Sandoval shared.

Making The Right Choice

It seems that seeing Rachel Leviss getting help was the push Tom Sandoval needed to fix his problems. Now, all of these months later, he claims he is still sober. Though he knows that he could have given in after some of the stuff he was put through on tour but he fought back. He is now working out his issues on Season 2 of Special Forces and has his new podcast. Plus, he filmed Season 11 of Pump Rules without Rachel. He did reach out to her for her birthday earlier this month but she proceeded to parade that she blocked him.
